How the color season analysis works

Your photo is compressed in your browser, read once by a vision model to judge three things — whether your skin undertone leans warm or cool, how deep your natural coloring is, and how much contrast sits between your skin, eyes and hair — and then discarded. Those three readings place you in one of the twelve seasons of modern color analysis, from Bright Spring to Bright Winter. The palettes themselves are fixed, published theory — the model only reads your undertone; it doesn’t freestyle your colors.

What you get: wear, avoid, and hair colors

Each season comes with a wear palette — eight colors that harmonize with your undertone — and four to avoid, the ones that wash you out or fight your skin. Because Stylery is a hair studio at heart, your season also maps to actual hair colors from our catalog: coppers and honeys for the warm seasons, ash and cool tones for the cool ones.

The photo rules matter here

Color analysis is only as good as the light in the photo. Use daylight (near a window beats any lamp), bare skin without foundation or filters, and no strong color cast from walls or clothing. A golden-hour glow or a beauty filter will read as warmth that is not really yours.

One pass, never stored

This is the one tool on this site where the photo leaves your browser — a single compressed copy is analyzed by the model and discarded the moment the request ends. It is never written to storage, never logged, never used for training. The rest of Stylery works the same way: your originals are for the session only.

Questions, answered

What are the 12 color seasons?

The 12-season system refines the classic four (spring, summer, autumn, winter) by depth and clarity: each season splits into bright/warm/light or soft/cool/deep variants. Warm seasons share golden undertones; cool seasons share blue ones.

Is my photo stored anywhere?

No. It is compressed in your browser, analyzed once on the server, and discarded when the request ends. Nothing is saved, logged or used for training.

Why does it say the service is busy?

The free analysis is rate-limited per network to keep it free. Wait a little and try again — your photo from the failed attempt was already discarded.

Can I do color analysis with makeup on?

Foundation shifts your apparent undertone, so results are most reliable bare-skinned in daylight. Eye makeup matters less than skin products.

How do I try a recommended hair color on myself?

Every hair color card links into the Stylery Studio, where the color is applied to your own photo — your face, your light. Two looks are free when you sign up.
